Healthcare in Carlinville
Carlinville serves as the primary center for healthcare
services in Macoupin County. The cornerstone of the
medical community is Carlinville Area Hospital which
provides a wide range of inpatient, outpatient and
emergency medical services to area residents. The
33-bed hospital has seven primary care physicians on
active staff and more than 25 Springfield, St. Louis and
Alton doctors on the consulting staff, who represent
more than a dozen medical specialties from cardiology
to urology.
The community is also pleased to be home to a number
of chiropractors, dentists and optometrists. And for those
four-legged family members, veterinary care is also
available. Local doctors apply their particular training,
experience and expertise while providing some of the
finest health care that can be found in the state.
Another positive feature of
Carlinville is that it is fortunate
to have three nursing homes
in town. Not only do these
facilities offer numerous
opportunities for employment,
but they also provide a wide
range of specialized care for
Alzheimer's patients as well as
short- and long-term nursing
care. These professional health
care facilities provide environments
where patients and
residents receive the best in
care, compassion and
companionship.
As the county seat, Carlinville
also serves as headquarters for
Macoupin County Public Health
Department and Macoupin
County Mental Health Center.
These two agencies have
developed a wide range of
prevention, health, mental and
social services over the years.
